However, while the founders of social sciences sought above all to identify laws specific to a given type of society, Bernard Lahire prefers to focus on universally valid laws. This article examines the possibility of articulating these two research perspectives. It attempts to understand how the laws of internal evolution within societies relate to the general laws of evolution identified by Bernard Lahire. To this end, it compares the work of Bernard Lahire with that of Alain Testart, one of the most recent authors to have provided the most serious avenues for identifying laws specific to given societies. This dialogue shows that one of the keys to understanding the problem lies in the junction between the law of cumulative objectification (general law) and the laws of concentration of rights over men (which are specific to different types of society).Dans son ouvrage Structures fondamentales des sociétés humaines, Bernard Lahire renoue avec la vocation originelle des sciences sociales : découvrir les lois qui gouvernent les sociétés humaines. Mais, alors que les fondateurs des sciences sociales ont surtout cherché à dégager des lois propres à un type de société donnée, Bernard Lahire préfère s’intéresser aux lois valables universellement. Cet article interroge la possibilité d’articuler ces deux perspectives de recherche. Il tente de saisir la manière dont les lois d’évolution internes aux sociétés se rapportent aux lois d’évolution générales telles que les dégage Bernard Lahire. Pour cela, il fait dialoguer le travail de Bernard Lahire avec celui d’Alain Testart, l’un des auteurs récents qui a donné les pistes les plus sérieuses pour identifier des lois spécifiques à des sociétés données. Ce dialogue montre qu’une des grandes clefs de compréhension du problème réside dans la jonction entre la loi d’objectivation cumulée (loi générale) et les lois de concentration des droits sur les hommes (qui sont spécifiques aux différents types de société).Presses de l’Inalco2026-01-16
